Pat Sloan came up with this fast and fabulous sew and flip method for making star blocks where the star points spill over into adjoining blocks or borders. She offers a free pattern for the basic quilt at https://patsloanquilts.com/oh-my-stars-free-quilt-pattern-by-pat-sloan/ and has several YouTube videos showing different ways to use the blocks. Her basic pattern uses charm packs (5” squares) plus 3” squares to create the star points.
Denise used 4.5” squares with 2.5” squares for her winter themed table runner. The basic grid is 5 squares wide x 15 rows and the finished table runner is 20” x 60” –Denise has a large dining table! There are various ways to scale down the finished size and Denise can help you figure out the best plan for your needs.
