Make a quick and easy table runner for your Thanksgiving table! You’ll learn to create a basic nine patch block with squares and half square triangles along with a strip pieced strata. Supplies:
Sewing Machine and basic sewing supplies
¼” piecing foot (if you have one)
Thread
Acrylic ruler and rotary cutter (Denise will have some you can use)
Fabric for leaves, five 10” squares
Contrast fabric for center of leaf, five 2 ½ ” squares
Fabric for stems, one 5” square
Background, ¾ yard
Binding ¼ yard
Backing 14” x 46”
Batting 14” x 46”
The pattern finishes 12” x 44” and each block is 8”. Denise made a larger
version of the pattern with a 12” block which finishes 18” x 66” and requires
a little more fabric:
Leaves – ⅛ yd for each leaf or 5 x 12” squares, or assorted 4” scraps
Center of each leaf, five x 3 ½ “squares
Stems – 6” square
Background 1 yard
Backing - 1 ¼ yds
Batting – 22” x 68” piece
