Youth Quilting Series

person Twisted Stitches Staff

The Journey

Give your young maker the skills—and confidence—to create something all their own! Our Youth Quilting Series is a hands-on, multi-week program designed to introduce kids to the wonderful world of quilting and sewing in a fun, supportive environment.

No previous sewing or quilting experience is necessary. Fabric and notions are included. Throughout the series, students will develop skills including:

  • Sewing machine operation and safety
  • Fabric selection and basic color concepts
  • Accurate measuring and cutting
  • Understanding seam allowances
  • Quilt piecing and construction
  • Pressing techniques
  • Using essential quilting tools and notions
  • Basic quilting and finishing techniques
  • Problem-solving and learning how to correct mistakes

Classes are two hours each week (6 - 8PM), giving students plenty of time to learn, practice, create, and build confidence from one week to the next. Classes will be held:
Sept 22, 29
Oct 6, 14, 20 (no 27)
Nov 3, 10, 17 (no 24)
Dec 1, 8

Students will learn in a welcoming environment where questions are encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and everyone can work at their own pace.

This program is about much more than making a quilt. It’s about developing patience, creativity, problem-solving skills, and the confidence that comes from being able to say: “I made this myself!”

At Twisted Stitches, we want young sewists to discover the joy of making something with their own hands—and hopefully begin a creative skill they’ll enjoy for years to come.
